Business SurvivalRoad work can prove a challenge to businesses located along construction projects, but there are resources to help businesses continue to thrive. For business owners and managers inside the City of Spokane, the City and Downtown Spokane Partnership are offering resources to help businesses deal with construction.
City staff is working with businesses to plan for and manage the impacts of street construction. In addition to having a website featuring information on getting through the construction season intact, the City held a workshop designed to help business owners cope with projects.
A toolkit provided to workshop attendees to help your business through Spokane's projects is available by clicking on the "Open for Business" graphic. Other resources include Frequently Asked Questions regarding construction projects in relation to adjacent businesses and some 'Best Practices' used in the past in other communities that could be applicable locally.
A video of the workshop is available at www.DevelopingSpokane.org. It includes how to get information on local projects and provide feedback to construction engineers; developing business planning strategies to ready your company for street construction; developing communication, staying on message, staying positive and using createve pomotion and business strategies; and post-construction ideas to get your business back on track.
Additionally, businesses located in the downtown area can call the Downtown Spokane Partnership at (509) 456-0580 for assistance.
